The Team

The team that looks after DynaxDigital.com is a fairly diverse group of photography enthusiasts from around the world. They are all long time members and contributors to DynaxDigital and help run the site, remove spam, handle any issues, manage the challenges and are pretty much ace people all round!

So, here they are in no particular order:

fother (or Michael)

Michael is the main administrator for the forum, and spends more time working behind the scenes than participating in the forum itself (but vows to change that soon).

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Michael juggles his time between DynaxDigital, shooting portraits, wildife and stock photography, and enjoying being the parent of an active toddler. He primarily shoots with a Sony a700, as well as various older KM and Minolta bodies, and has an embarrassingly large collection of lenses to play with, including the 135 STF. His most recent obsession is Elinchrom lighting, including setting up an new dedicated studio space…

Rob (or Minolta Mad)

Rob lives in Fremington in North Devon (UK). He got into photography seriously in 2005, largely due to the advent of Digital, though he had been taking pictures since an early age (15).

Rob has always used minolta equipment, though now 90% of his gear is Sony, including his pride and joy: the awesome A900.
Rob’s main photographic genre is landscapes (mainly coastal sunsets) and wildlife.

He found DynaxDigital while looking on the web to find information about a problem he had with his Minolta Dynax 5D, joined and soon became addicted (so be warned). Rob claims that the friendly and helpful nature of the forum helped him as a photographer no end, so when the moderation team at the time put out a call for assistance in running the site, he had no hesitation in putting himself forward.

If he’s not running around after his beautiful 4 1/2 year old daughter, he’s either out with his camera, fishing or clay pigeon shooting.

AScot (or Charles)

Charles was born in Scotland in 1940 from a Canadian father and a Scots mother, hence the nom de plume ‘AScot’. He moved (back) to Canada in 1970 after spending 5 years in London and 4 years in Bogner Regis, England. He now lives in Brantford, Ontario.

At 15, an age when all his friends were chasing girls, Charles was saving to buy his first camera, a Voigtlander Vito B with a fixed 50mm f2.8 lens. He then met a girl, Jean, who apparently was a good model and offered to carry his camera gear for him, so he conned her into marriage. They will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012. She still carries his camera gear.

Cameras have always held a fascination for Charles. After many years using his Voigtlander and other lesser cameras, he purchased a Minolta 7000 as his introduction to Auto focus. This led to his acquiring a succession of Minolta cameras, culminating in the Minolta 7D. He now owns a Sony A700 and an A850. He became a member of the DD forum on March 2005 in order to find out where to put the film into his 7D! Soon after, he became a Moderator. Who Would have believed it?

Clive (or Clive)

Clive was born in England in 1947, and moved to Canada at age 8. He received his first camera for Christmas 1959. He had used the family’s Kodak “Brownie” before that, and in the summer of 1959, took a double exposure of Queen Elizabeth from about ten feet away in Banff, Alberta.

Upon graduation from university in 1968, he received a Minolta SRT 101 SLR from his mother. In 1990, he purchased a Minolta Maxxum 8000i and some AF lenses.

He purchased a KM 7D in 2005. Today, he shoots exclusively with the A700 and a few lenses. He still sells a few images, but mainly takes photographs for enjoyment and donates framed photographs to many charitable groups for fund raising. Clive enjoys taking pictures of birds and wildlife, but takes pictures of anything. He “teaches” classes on photography from time to time and has given dozens of talks on outdoor photography. Starting in mid February (for six weeks), thirty of Clive’s photographs will be displayed in the gallery at the local library. A few of his pictures can be seen here.

On August 25, 2005, five days after getting the 7D, Clive registered as a member here at Dynax Digital. “This is a great place to learn and has a warm, friendly atmosphere.”

He and his wife spend a lot of time at their summer trailer (caravan) lot near the mountains. He also enjoys fly-fishing and traveling.

Stef. (or Stef)

Since 2008, Stef., her husband and three children are based in Vancouver (Canada), after a stint of 18 years in London UK.
She has been involved in photography since 1983. Work involves teaching Photoshop and video editing; supervising PhD and Master students; curating exhibitions and installations; web consultancy; and finally research. Her work (mainly installations) has been widely exhibited. She is currently working on an exhibition in London for autumn 2010 and on her two books, that seem to never get finished…
After years of using 35mm and medium format cameras, Stef. now mainly uses her Sony A900/ A700 and A100. Like Michael, she has “an embarrassingly large collection of lenses to play with” and professional lighting equipment in her studio.
She became a member of this very friendly forum in 2007 and a moderator in 2008.

Wildieswife (or Pat)

Pat was born in Lancashire, England quite a long time ago………..OK then, 1952. As a child she spent many hours looking at a photograph album of strange and fascinating images her Dad had taken in India with his box brownie, during WWII. She was often his photographic model – as kids are.
At school she was a keen poetry writer (still is) but her very favourite subject was Art. She went to Art college and then started a B Ed in English and Art but (silly girl) left to get married (a disaster) and had two children. Her passion for art and photography continued but as a single Mum she couldn’t afford anything more than an old compact film camera.
When she finally met Mr W / Mr Right she annoyed him so much borrowing his Minolta Dynax 9xi film SLR that he bought her a ‘new fangled’ digital SLR – the KM 7D. Then he continually annoyed her by borrowing her camera once he discovered how good digital  photography could be.

Eventually they avoided serious argument by getting a camera each and that was the start of a mutual obsession for photography that still endures.

Vaughaag (or Dave)

Dave was born in Oxford in 1984 where he spent his first four years. In 1989 his family moved to a small town in Devon, Ottery St Mary. He lived in Ottery for the next 18 years completing his GCSE’s and AS levels. After getting bored during his AS levels Dave left college and started work for British Telecom where he worked as a network engineer and gained Microsoft and CISCO qualifications.
In 2003, after being made redundant Dave had a career change moving into the aviation industry where he has worked since. It was here that his passion for photography grew from taking snap shots with his Olympus Trip buying a film SLR.  In 2007 Dave moved to Axminster where he lives today with his partner, two dogs and numerous fish ;)
In the last year Dave has had some of his work published in magazines such as Flight International, local papers and a French Science magazine.
